12 Ramadan 1433H - Fit For A King

I first came across Puding Raja in a women's magazine. It was an interview with chef & writer norzailina nordin.
She mentioned about how the dessert was rejected when she first prepared them for a function graced by a menteri besar. Apparently puding raja was not a popular dessert among commoners thus when she introduced this dessert she received a frown. So she quickly explain that this dessert originated from the kitchen of Pahang royals. Hence the name Puding Raja. And it was well received by the attendees.

The pudding were made up by a layer of ripe bananas fried in butter which lends beautiful aroma to the bananas. A layer of jala emas (sweet delicacy made from egg yolk), then granished with prunes, glazed cherries or roasted cashew nut. Mildly sweetened milk is pour just before you eat them.

I made the jala emas myself menggunakan 10 biji telur kuning untuk menghasilkan satu mangkuk kecil jala emas. Terpaksalah buat sebab mana nak dapat jala emas dekat KL/Shah Alam ni. Takdelah susah sangat nak buat, cuma rumit sikit nak kirai kuning telur dalam air gula supaya dapat urat-urat halus yang dipanggil jala emas.

Minggu ini memang banyak buat kuih-muih manis. Agaknya dek rasa tercabar dengan kehebatan pasangan Nic & Rocco - dubbed as the Dessert King dalam My Kitchen Rules (Australia). Ahkak nak lah juga jadi Dessert Queen. Oh ya by the way, both of them akan berentap today against another favourite of mine Carly & Emily untuk tempat ke final. Walaupun saya dah tau keputusan akhir tapi nak lah juga tengok kehandalan mereka memasak. Setiap Isnin-Rabu mesti melekat depan tv dari jam 6pm-7.15pm. Mr Hubby pun sama layan. Dia pun minat program lawan masak ni. Very inspiring you!
