Tempe & Lasagna

malam ni just nak share resipi tempe atas permintaan puan rimo@nolie & yan. minta maaf banyak2 coz lambat respon, menyibukkan diri dengan preparation besday tuan puteri. sekarang baru boleh bernafas.

the most important ingredient untuk membuat tempe semestinyalah kacang soya dan ragi tempe. ragi tempe ni tak taulah kalau kat KL ni nak dapat kat mana. mine was courtesy from mil, maklum je mil duduk kat kampung so senang nak dapat stok ragi ni. itupun ragi yang diberi buatan indon, imported you ;-). apapun rasanya mesti ada jual kat mana2 kat KL ni, kalau ada sesiapa yang tahu share kat sini ye. meh kita tengok resipi. sukatan yang saya letak ni sesuai untuk kita2 yang baru nak berjinak2 dengan eksperimen tempe. proses membuatnya agak renyah terutama masa nak buang kulit kacang soya tu.

250gm kacang soya
1 sudu kecil ragi tempe

Cara2 pembuatan:
1. Rendam hingga tenggelam kacang soya selama 3 malam tanpa perlu menyalin air rendaman. Harus diingat bau tempe yang terendam 3 malam ni memanglah tersangat masam, ala2 bau muntah gitu.
2. Setiap malam cuba kaup dan buang kulit kacang soya yang tertanggal. Pada hari ke 3, basuh kacang soya sambil pecah2kan kacang soya tujuannya supaya soya terbelah dua dan dalam masa yang sama membantu mempercepatkan pembuangan kulit. Lagi satu cara nak buang kulit adalah dengan menggelek kacang soya dengan penggelek kayu tu.
3. Dah bersih buang kulit semua, rebus kacang soya. Matikan api selepas 10-15min air mendidih. Toskan air dan sejukkan. Kacang soya mestilah betul2 kering sebelum digaul ragi. Kalau nak jemur pun boleh, atau goreng atas kuali sekadar nak keringkan airnya aja.
4. Di dalam bekas besar, gaulkan dengan 1 sudu kecil ragi hingga rata.
5. Bungkus dalam daun pisang atau plastik. Kacang soya mesti cukup padat & mampat, kalau letak sikit sangat & jarang2 tak menjadi.
6. Dah siap bungkus balut tempe dengan kain sampai betul2 kemas. Put aside untuk dia berhibernasi sampai kulat memutih sepenuhnya.
7. Kalau bungkus malam, insyaAllah pagi esok intai sikit mesti kulat dah memutih tapi belum cukup padat. Waktu ni tempe akan 'demam' (panas). This is a good sign. Hari kedua sepatutnya dah sempurna dan boleh dimasak.

puan rimo & yan dan sesiapa saja, silalah cuba ye. cuma kena banyak bersabar sikit sebab adakalanya mencabar juga nak buat kali pertama terus perfect. :-)

Statement Tak Sayang Mulut

tonite we had chicken lasagna for dinner. the preparation was a quick one coz i have the chicken bolognese ready in the fridge. just need to thaw them and lepas tu layered alternately with instant lasagna sheets. the bolognese was initially intended for yesterday's makan-makan. but in the end, ended up in my mum's fridge sebab dah banyak sangat hidangan lain. elok juga tak membazir, at least i can use them to make our dinner tonite. maklum jelah penat drive dari seremban tadi rasa tak kuasa nak berperang kat dapur lagi dah.

yaya had 3 helpings, in small portion of course. which is much to my surprise coz selalunya fahmi would be the one to have more when it comes to pasta. agaknya kelaparan kot coz today neither of them had nasi kat rumah nenek. they were too busy playing with their new toys and cousins sampai tak peduli nak makan.

hubby pulak tak habis2 memuji lasagna malam ni. lain kata dia, sedap sangat and the sheets were lembut tak macam biasa. he asked me kenapa lately ni masak sedap semacam, like the mee rebus that i made yesterday pun sedap sangat kata dia. then he said something that buat aku geram... "are you pregnant, sayang?" huwaaaa menghina lah tu. bukannya apa... aku rasa terhina sebab before this dia kata masa aku pregnant kan yaya memang masakan aku berlainan benar, buat apa semuanya sedap & menjadi. kiranya statement dia tu seolah2 aku ni tak pandai masak lah! nak kena pregnant baru sedap... huwaaa tak sayang mulut lah tu.

aku bilang kat hubby... ni resipi rahsiaaa... hehehe

these photos were taken on yaya's birthday hi-tea petang tadi. we planned for a simple hi-tea for the family. tapi tau jelah aku ni, none of my simple plan would really turn out simple as planned. mesti jadi a little bit extravaganza. i couldn't help to go a bit overboard with the details i.e. party decoration, the balloons, pasty cone hats etc. coz my idea of a simple birthday is that it should be celebrated with the family yet suasana birthday tu mesti ada to inject mood to the party.

so beginilah jadinya...

i actually didn't expect to entertain a big crowd. rupa2nya my mum made her own plan for the 'simple' party. she invited her 'yasin friends' over untuk baca Surah Yasin sebelum majlis. tak kurang 20 of makcik2 came to our house. and i only knew this masa tengah sibuk masak kuah mee rebus, no wonder she keep on saying kenapa aku buat kuah mee rebus sikit sangat. adehhh serta merta aku kecut perut. nasib baik our family angkat sedekahkan laksa penang dapat juga buat tambah2 hidangan. see, ke mana tumpahnya kuah kalau tak ke nasi. rupa2nya aku ni mewarisi perangai mak aku ye ;-)


kenapa ada dua doll? the mermaid cake untuk my niece farah who celebrates her advance birthday also in april, and the big pink doll was yaya's. tak fair aku kan, buat satu kecil & satu lagi besar... itu jer yang termampu aku buatkan coz my niece sejak tahun lepas dah minta buatkan.

yang bagusnya, plan asal nak buat lasagna dan pizza tak perlu diteruskan. jadi kurang sikit kerja kat dapur. pun begitu tapak kaki ku tetap sakit semacam. apa tidaknya, 5 malam berturut2 berdikit2 buat persiapan mula dari menyiapkan frozen karipap, bake cakes, kuah chicken bolognese, kiddies party treats etc.

hubby wasn't around all the while i did the preparation coz minggu ni dia keje asyik balik lewat. dah terbalik pulak coz selalunya aku yang lewat. hingga majlis today aku terpaksa balik sendiri dengan kakak & anak2 coz he had to work. sesampai je dia kat rumah my mum majlis dah bermula. so dia terus je makan. i was busy entertaining the guests. bila terserempak kat dapur he asked me one weird question "mee apa ni" referring to the mee rebus. aku rasa pelik coz bukan dia tak tau yang aku dah plan nak buat mee rebus. terus aku rasa was2 nak jawab... what does he mean sebenarnya? adakah sebab mee tu tak sedap sampai he couldn't recognise it was mee rebus? i said "mee rebus lah". "kenapa? tak sedap ye?" aku tanya lagi. then he said sapa buat? ehhh ni nak kena ni, penat2 aku terbongkok2 kat dapur ada ke dia tanya sapa yang buat. mana ada orang lain dalam rumah ni yang tau masak mee rebus.

i said "saya lah, kenapa?" ... muka dia macam tak percaya. "iye ke? ingat tempah kat kedai" adehh rasa nak tepuk jer bahu dia. statement menghina tuh. dia kata selalu tak sedap macam ni. huwaa sedeyyy... yelah yang selalu buat tu manalah nak sedap macam hari ni coz selalu tak cukup bahan2 main boh je apa yang ada. kali ni memang cukup lengkap semua bahan. i said to him lain kali janganlah merungut and rajin2lah pergi kedai bila aku minta belikan bahan2 masak, barulah dapat masakan yang sedap2.

back to yaya's birthday party. kali ni she got lots of present from her aunties, uncles and grandparents. before this she told me yang dia nak sangat kalau nenek boleh hadiahkan dia set mainan masak2. well, her prayers were answered coz dia dapat bukan 1 set masak2 tapi 4 altogether from different people. aku rasa terkejut sendiri, macam tau2 pulak masing 2 ye. and after the party dah over she told me yang kalau boleh dia nak mama hadiahkan anak patung. then masa kami unwrapped all her presents one of them is a doll set. wow! again she got what she wished for. bagusnya, mama tak payah lah belikan anak patung ye? :-)

emm nasib birthday party 2 kali je setahun. kalau ada orang yang rajin nak urutkan kaki ni kan bagus?

On Her Birthday

today, my little princess turns 4. she claims that she's 6, sometimes she talks and act as though she's older that her age. she is talkative like a 'mak nenek', who would have doubt she's 6 except when they saw her physique and suara halus dia. but she is only 4. 4 maybe a big number for some kids. with fahmi, he was a big boy when he turned 4 last year and each year i can feel him growing up, moving away from my cucoon. but it is not the case with yaya... 4 is still a small number for yaya.

perhaps because she's small in her physique, thus i still sees her as my little princess, my baby
perhaps because she's the most 'manja' between my two child - she still need to be cuddle to sleep and always insist that i put her to sleep
perhaps because she's the most dependent one - which is translated as 'malas' to her brother because she always ask for help bila nak kemas toys or the mess that she make
perhaps because she still couldn't fit in to a 4 year old's bajus (she wears 2yr old pyjama's) and shoes
perhaps because she loves to mimicked baby's voice - much to her brother's irritation
perhaps because she's still on diapers at night
perhaps because of the fact that she's the youngest one

for whatever the reason may be, no matter how strict i am (want to be), no matter how 'bekeng' i am with my children, there will always be a time when they are deep in their sleep, i will still look upon them as my babies.

i have so much hopes for her, all the things that i dreamt of as a child but could not achieve, i would not impose those things on her, but me being me - as any other mothers out there i would want her to have the best in her life, to make the best out of her life, to live her life to the fullest. i pray for her bright future, i pray for her best of health, i pray for her being a good daughter and sister and i pray for her to grow as a good muslimah. amin.

a pity daddy couldn't be around for her birthday and i could only managed to get her a small chocolate cake. but she's happy, as happy as i want her to be, on her birthday.

Time For Another Party

dalam pada malas memasak coz kakak bercuti weekend lepas, sempat juga aku mengerjakan cookies untuk kiddies treat masa besday yaya nanti. we plan to have it at my mom's place, again and again. dapat juga buat sikit, itupun mula membaking dah petang sangat. tak sempat nak iced the cookies, aku terus simpan dalam container.

punyalah tension kali ni mencari idea nak buat birthday cake yaya. dahlah aku tengah jiwa kacau dek hal kerja sampai jadi blank habis takde idea nak buat kek fesyen apa for her birthday. kesian yaya.

the fact that she requested macam2 theme for her birthday cake doesn't help either. jadi lagi susah aku nak decide. bila aku suruh dia sendiri decide aku pulak jadi tak puas hati dengan jawapan dia. she has been asking for doll cake sejak dari tahun lepas lagi. tetiba baru2 ni she was torn between kitty cake, doll cake and ladybird cake. i make her choose one theme out of three. dia pilih kitty... sudahnya aku pulak tak puas hati dengan pilihan tu, aku yang terhegeh2 nak doll. heheh ni kes impian zaman kanak2 tak kesampaian lah ni.

so, on saturday morning lepas hubby hantar yaya ke smart reader aku pun keluar hunting for barang2 untuk buat cake & hidangan birthday dia nanti. i already made a list of things to buy and the 20odd things in my list kena dapatkan bukan dari 1 tempat tapi 4 shops. phewww! sampai almost 3pm baru siap shopping. dari subang perdana ke sect 14 PJ, patah balik ke subang jaya then ke kota damansara baru balik semula ke rumah.

but after hours of shopping and endless time taken to browse the australian women's weekly magazine, aku masih belum boleh decide design apa nak buat for yaya's cake! oh my... mental block habis kali ni. huwaaaa... dah kecut perut ni. tolonggg!

the cookies yang dah iced. yaya helped me to iced the cookies petang semalam before we went to fetch kakak from her aunt's house.

boring sebab kena mengemas rumah sendiri, semalam aku buat mee kari je untuk brunch. tak sempat buat breakfast sebab berlumba2 nak pakai dapur dengan hubby yang sibuk dengan projek tempe nya lagi. sudahnya, mee kari tu we had as late breakfast cum lunch. the kids had their sunny fried egg on toast.

Where, What & Why?

jengah blog orang semua buat entry dated 28.03.09 dan 29.03.09 tentang 60 Earth Hour. i have mixed feelings about 60 earth hour ni dan since dah terlalu ramai buat entry pasal ni, i'll pass.

ehhh tak boleh, tak boleh diam... nak cakap jugak pasal 60 earth hour day semalam. so, where were we and what we were doing at 8.30 til 9.30pm last night? and why? we were at secret recipe, bukit jelutong... heheh rumah puan sally sepelaung je dari secret recipe tu, malas nak kacau puan sally yang dah tentu tengah mengepit anak teruna dia. what we were doing? having our dinner of course... semalam hari cuti kakak, kami hantar dia ke rumah mak cik dia untuk berehat. jadi aku malas betul nak masuk dapur kalau takde pembantu ni. maklum je aku cuma rajin masak tapi tak cukup rajin mengemas. biasalah ala2 chef kan? konon! and why? we purposely left the house before the 60 earth hour begins, so that we don't have to stay in the dark for 1 hour. nak ikut sama rasa macam tak kena, tak ikut sama padam lampu macam tak concern pulak. in the end we left the house dalam gelap and go somewhere terang. hehee cheat!

why i had mixed feelings about this 60 erath hour thing? sebab kalau tak silap memory aku pernah terbaca somewhere yang amalan duduk dalam gelap, padam lampu semua ni adalah ritual penganut hindu bali. cuma aku tak ingat apa nama ritual ni. dia panggil hari sepi ke apa ntah, kurang ingat pulak. pasal tu yang aku bena tak bena je pasal kempen 60 earth hour ni. tapi aku padamkan juga lampu kat rumah sebagai sokongan, half of me believe this is for a good cause. it may not help untuk kurangkan pemanasan global tapi untuk mencetuskan kesedaran, maybe.
