Mesej Tengah Malam

Saya memang tak pernah off handphone, walaupun waktu tidur
kalau tiba-tiba saya off handphone ertinya ada lah tu sesuatu yang tak kena
contohnya : bila saya migrain atau sakit teruk
tapi kalau tak sihat atau tak mau diganggu pun paling kuat saya cuma ON kan silent mode sahaja, selain dari itu memang saya tak akan off handphone

Bos saya pernah cakap kat saya "kakak, malam-malam tidur off lah handphone"
*the way my boss address me berbeza-beza mengikut mood dia - kakak means mood baik
takde angin takde ribut tiba-tiba je dia cakap macam tu, memang muka saya blur habis
takde sebab untuk saya off handphone hatta waktu tidur malam sekalipun
ada satu pengajaran pahit buat saya suatu ketika dulu bila masa berita kematian arwah abang ipar hanya saya ketahui bila bangun sahur jam 5.30 pagi
kedua, semenjak dua menjak pandai set alarm kat handphone ni kan lagilah takde alasan nak off handphone

I mesej kat you, takdelah you terjaga"
owh itu namanya statement prihatin demi menjaga kepentingan diri sendiri!
he feels guilty about texting me in the middle of the night but at the same time he still wants to continue doing it because he doesn't want to risk forgetting it but he wants to avoid feeling guilty about doing it at the same time... phewww boleh faham?
tapi oklah juga sebab at least dia ada rasa tak sedap hati juga mesej orang malam-malam walaupun mesej tu pasal kerja bukan mesej menggatal, I was his secretary at that time and he paid me well to compensate untuk 'gangguan' diluar ofis hour

adehhh hati panas giler terus saya padam mesej tu
emm takpelah takde rezeki 'membahasakan' orang

hmmm... apa lagi pucuk dicita ulam mendatang
tapi bahasa saya sangat sopan okeh "Salam. Mohon hormat privacy dan masa tidur saya, jgn hantar sms waktu tengah malam, pukul 3pagi dan sebginya kerana sgt mengganggu waktu tidur saya sampai terjaga tengah malam. Nak meniaga kena jaga sensitiviti juga dan hormat orang. Perbuatan anda sangat tidak sopan. Tq"
errr dah macam ayat bahasa Melayu darjah 4 pulak kan?
dia? senyap... tak apalah saya tak expect jawapan, cukup dia memahami

after almost 3 hours tiba-tiba masuk mesej.
"Salam. Puan/cik sy betul2 minta maaf kerana mengganggu puan/cik tengah tidur. Sy betul2 tidak sengaja n perasan perbuatan sy sgt tidak sopan. Hari ini sy belajar perkara baik dr puan.cik. Mohon maaf sekali lagi n tkasih byk :-)"

Ermm matlamat tidak menghalalkan cara. Berfikir sebelum bertindak.
saya tak marah orang nak meniaga tapi proper lah sikit
bank nak kutip hutang pun tak sms or call orang tengah-tengah malam or awal pagi.
erk! pencerahan ~ tak pernah dapat mesej bank kutip hutang diri sendiri tapi selalu dapat mesej kutip hutang orang lain! ekeke
sekian

Mixed Berries Parfait

You don't need to go to France to sample a taste of French.
Yelah tu, sebenarnya ayat cover sebab duit tak cukup kan nak travel ke France.
Owh whatever!.
Saya tak prepare sebarang dessert sebenarnya sebab bukanlah kebiasaan hakiki makan dessert lepas lunch or dinner
Tapi incik hubby request for this fruits parfait yang saya perkenalkan kepadanya malam sebelumnya
I initially made this parfait sebagai snack, malam-malam bila terasa lapar I just mixed then in a small bowl untuk hilangkan rasa lapar
maklumlah dah nak tidur tiba-tiba lapar cari biskut takde pulak
tak sangka become a hit pulak ;-)
Yang ini bergaya sikit punya lawa kan? Maklumlah nama pun dessert haruslah cantik, seksi dan menggoda
Lagipun dalam seminggu cuma 2 kali saya sediakan hidangan untuk keluarga, haruslah plating saya istimewa sedikit

What is parfait?
Parfait comes from a French name which means 'perfect'.

Kalau tak letak madu memang masam sekali rasa yogurt tu.
Nak lapis dengan puri strawberry pun boleh.
Bijirin yang saya guna pulak comes from the granola bars that I bought recently.

Sangat healthy with no sugar added! Sinfully delicious but healthy, of course saya suka!
Nak makan 10 gelas pun boleh, tapi kalau lepas tu rasa macam terlebih lawas je jangan salahkan saya ;-)

Daging Bakar & Sos Cili Ala Thai Istimewa

Yang menjadi watak utama sebenarnya bukanlah daging bakar, tetapi sos cili pencicah daging bakar itu

West meets East. Daging bakar tu diperap dengan bahan perapan gaya barat.
While the sauce is definitely an Asian concoctions.
Sos cili ini dah berminggu-minggu saya idamkan
sampai kecur liur tapi sebab tak tau nak diregukan dengan hidangan apa
nak jadikan pencicah seafood kami tengah kawal seafood intake
maka saya pendamkan dulu keinginan

Saya tak mau bagitau coz I know what will be his reaction... siaplah saya kena perli.
Hahaha nak gelak dulu sebelum cakap, sebab tempat saya jumpa resipi ini is a very unlikely place... di dalam novel ASST!!!
Hahaha... first time dalam novel ada resipi masakan. Itulah istimewanya ASST.
Ada bermacam resipi di dalamnya... resipi berkasih sayang secara bersyariat, resipi menjaga keselamatan wanita, resipi mengubati kekecewaan, resipi meningkatkan ketakwaan, resipi menjaga kerukunan rumahtangga dan bermacam resipi lagi termasuk resipi masakan!
All you have to do is membaca dengan mata hati and be prepared to unveil the mistery!
Hahaha habislah saya kena perli lepas incik hubby baca entry ni.

1 ulas bawang putih
1 sudu besar gula
5 biji cili api (kalau guna cili akar sila kurangkan dos (*_^)
5 sudu besar sos ikan (kalau sos ikan agak masin sila kurangkan dos ikut rasa masing2)
perahan limau nipis (tiada sukatan saya cuma perahkan 1 sudu besar sahaja)

Tumbuk bawang putih bersama gula hingga lumat.

Memang terangkat selera!
Orang Cina ber yee sang, kami berkerabu!
Anak-anak pun tumpang sekaki tapi mereka cicah sikit jelah sebab sos cili tu uisyyy memang berapi kepedasannya!
Pedas tapi sedap! ;-)
Kalau tak tahan pedas sila kurangkan dos ye, jangan salahkan saya kalau ada yang masuk hospital lepas makan sos cili ni. I've warned you hehehe

Selingan

My Banyak Makan Wang brokedown again, yeah *sigh*
but I don't want blog about the car again, cukup-cukuplah heartache
cerita pasal lain lah...
since i had to leave my car behind at the office yesterday, I had to asked for a colleague (my staff actually tapi saya tak suka sangat nak sebut perkataan staff tu rasa macam ada gap je)
to give me a ride home
he had to detour from his usual route... detour yang sangat jauh and it was so nice of him sanggup detour tolong saya semalam
rasa bersalah pun ada tapi takde pilihan sangat sebenarnya
another colleague yang duduk nearby my house who is also willing to lend a hand terpaksa rush ambil anak di asrama (yelah cuti panjang CNY kan)
owh but I do have a choice semalam but I decided to turn down the offer of another staff
an elderly man who lives in selayang tapi sangat baik hati offer diri hantar saya balik
tapi masa dia offer diri tu saya sangat was-was nak terima pelawaan dia
and it wasn't easy to brush off his offer - teruk kan saya?
Let's name him Haji K - mind the broken english ye

Haji K : ... so puan how you go home?
Me : it's ok haji saya tumpang orang
Haji K : siapa? if you want I can send you home
Saya dah cuak sikit sebenarnya. Ada dua sebab, 1. saya akui saya sangat prejudis kerana dia an elderly man of 70years old maka saya anggap dia memandu perlahan sangat dan saya sebenarnya sangat tak boleh tahan duduk dalam kereta yang di pandu perlahan, boleh pening, loya dan kaki mesti kejang je rasa macam nak tekan pedal minyak!
No.2, dia banyak cakap dan grumpy! Dah lah saya tengah stress sebab kereta breakdown, saya tak perlukan stress tambahan.

Me : it's ok haji, i can ask kafii to give me a ride (padahal kafii tak boleh nak tumpangkan)
Haji K : kafii? sapa tu? mana dia tinggal? (banyak pulak dia bertanya)
Me : dekat je dengan rumah saya... it's ok
Haji K : you sure aa? sure aa?
Me : ye haji don't worry... tq anyway
Haji K : OK... OK... (bunyi macam tak puas hati je kikiki)

But he's very kind actually, dia prihatin sebenarnya.

So akhirnya selepas I turned down Haji K's offer saya pun minta tolong J hantar saya balik. J ni was a famous football coach who gave up his career temporarily - don't ask me why saya tak suka pry into other people's business so I never asked, though I know why. Dia pool car dengan sorang kawan baik dia ni yang goes by the name Ah Chong (he's a Chinese looking Malay) who was also a famous footballer in the late 80's and 90's.
These two kept my mood lift up with their antics. Owh Tuhan... betapa saya rasa menyesal pulak, lemas. Tapi sempat pulak depa berdua kutuk driving style Haji K.

J : You know puan, antara kita 3 orang - myself, Ah Chong and R ada joke pasal Haji K
Me : oh ye, pasal apa?
J : all the 3 of us pernah naik kereta dengan Haji K. You know waht? Lepas naik dengan dia kita semua taubat tak nak naik dengan dia lagi dah

Dalam hati saya ingat betullah tu, mesti gaya Haji K bawa kereta slowlorise habis sampai semua orang tak tahan. Tapi saya silap! Coz what J said later buat saya terbuntang biji mata.

Me : apsal? slow sangat ke?
J : bukan! dia bawa kereta laju giler, takde jalan yang dia tak cilok.
Owh wow!
Me : Iye ke?
Ah Chong : betul puan aku dah rasa dah (sarawakian memang biasa bahasakan diri aku)
J : lepas tu dia suka hon... kalau dia nak potong orang, dia nak suruh orang tu ke tepi dia hon
Saya dah terdiam. Bukan sebab terkejut lagi dah. Tapi rasa macam best je! Kalau saya tau dia memandu laju dah pasti I took up his offer. Sebab... si J who is 20 years ++ younger than Haji K, drive lagi slow!
Rasa gatal je mulut nak cakap... but I kept my mouth shut. Ha ha ha
Tengok tu, prejudis dengan orang tua, terus Tuhan bayar cash.

Sampai kat tol Kota Kemuning, saya hulur smart tag saya.

Me : J... nah pakai smartag I
J : eh tak payah puan, I punya ada ni (sambil keluarkan smart tag dia)
Me : eh... pakailah I punya
J : takpe... takpe... ok ni
Sekali lepas scan je nak tau apa yang keluar? BAKI RM2.70!!!
Saya terjeling skrin... J terdiam! Tapi nak kontrol macho dia cakap "...ok lagi" dengan suara perlahan, sangat tidak convincing okeh!
Of course it was not OK sebab dia nak balik ke Setapak dalam trafik jam yang teruk semalam haruslah pakai smart tag kalau nak jimat masa queuing up kat tol.
Saya nak tergelak... tapi tak sampai hati, gelak dalam hati je ha ha ha.

Kami lalu LKSA. Ada satu lagi tol. Kali ini cepat-cepat saya hulur smart tag saya. Dan dia tidak menolak! Aduhaiii bagus juga tumpang kereta mereka berdua ni. Kurang-kurang hilang sekejap tension dengan gelagat mereka berdua. These two are among the people who are very nice to me. Esok-esok bila dah tak kerja mesti terasa kehilangan sangat ;-).

Everyday Is Teacher's Day - Beyond The Blackboard

I accidently watched this movie titled Beyond The Blackboard last night
i just finished icing a cake, it was still early - 10.30pm
i wasn't sleepy or tired
surprisingly my job for the night completed early
the cake and the buttercream cooperated well with me ;-)
so i sat on a giant throw pillow in front of the tv
i was switching channels when I come across this movie
already running for almost an hour on channel 702 - Diva (previously known as Hallmark)

Poster courtesy of cik google
It was a very moving story of a young teacher on her first posting job - to a homeless shelter school
i admire her courage - for the lack of facilities and the challenges of teaching childrens from mixed ranges of age (all in 1 class)
for the little help and attention she gets from respective parties - the education board and the community
for all the reasons she have she could have left
but she didn't, she stayed on
and she continues to contribute beyond her work scope
she gave a new meaning to all the teachers out there
she made a teachers job respectful
just imagine if all the teachers out there are like Stacey Bess - our generation would be better off
it may be to early for a dedication to all teachers, teacher's day won't be in another 4 months... but hey who cares?
to all teachers ... everyday is a Teacher's Day!

Stacey Bess BS'87

by Carin Joy Condon

Stacey Bess BS'87 was 23 years old and just a month out of college when she took a job teaching children at Salt Lake City's homeless shelter. On a cold January day she was driving slowly among warehouses and railroad tracks looking for the building. She finally stopped her car, unsure where she was and very scared.
When she heard a "tap, tap, tap" on her window and saw a wild-looking man with uncombed hair, she almost let out a scream. Bess writes about what happened next:
"You lost, ma'am?" the man asked kindly.
Disarmed by his courtesy, I responded, "I think so."
"Where ya trying to get to?" the man asked. Extending a shaky hand, I gave him the address. He smiled, a toothless smile with bits of breakfast clinging in his beard, but he spoke with a warmth I will never forget.
"I'll bet you're the new teacher," he said.
"I am," I responded, wishing I wasn't.
"You got the right place. I'm Joe," he declared while he held open my door for me. Then he proceeded to give me a crash course on street survival: Don't talk to nobody you don't know. Don't forget to lock your car. Don't look afraid. I had broken every rule so far, especially the last one.
Joe led her to a group of adults huddled around a fire they had built under a viaduct on Salt Lake City's near west side. Some of them were parents of children she would be teaching. He introduced Bess as the new teacher and the others began firing questions at her. They laughed when Bess admitted that this was her first real job. A woman sitting on the curb said, "Well, honey, you ain't got nowhere to go but up."
It was an apt prediction of what it would be like to teach 25 students ranging across all 13 grades crammed into a 12' by 12' room in a shed. Each time someone needed to reach one of the battered books on the cinder block shelves, the whole back row had to stand up and move their desks. Bess would walk around in the morning knocking on parked cars to round up her students for class. She didn't know then that she would come to regard this bottom-of-the-barrel job as the one place in the world she was meant to be. "At first I cried every night. Now I would be sick if I had to leave," Bess says. "The children give much more to me than I give to them."
Take the case of nine-year-old Dana. When she first came to the school she wouldn't talk or even look up at Bess. Slowly she gained enough confidence to talk a little. Then Bess had to go into the hospital for radiation treatments as a follow-up for thyroid cancer. Dana lingered after school with her hands hidden behind her back. She asked Bess if she were scared and Bess admitted she was a little. Then Dana said, "I have something that will help you." She placed a black-and-white stuffed bear on the teacher's desk and stepped back. "He'll go with you to the hospital. It helps to hold him tight when you're afraid," Dana explained, promising, "It really works."
Bess' eyes filled with tears and all she could manage to say was "Thank you, Dana." Later she asked the shelter staff about Dana's history. The little girl lives with her father now but custody had been awarded originally to the mother. A neighbor had called the police because she had not seen Dana or her little brother for several days. The mother and her boyfriend claimed the children were away visiting an aunt. But the police persisted and found the two children locked in the cellar. They were crouched on a damp, dirt floor in an unlit, windowless room. They had no food or water and were very weak. With one hand Dana was holding her younger brother, and in the other hand she clutched a dirty, black-and-white bear.
Such heart-rending stories are not uncommon in Bess' job. One day she was talking to her class about the importance of friendship and about showing people we love them by the things we say. A boy replied matter-of-factly, "You know, teacher, nobody don't love nobody."
That searing phrase haunted Bess and she choose it for the title of her book about the lives of the shelter children and her experiences teaching them. She felt she had gained so much from the children, she wanted more people to have a chance to learn what she had learned: that each of us is merely the product of what was given to us as children—not the things, but the time, experience, and love.
Nobody Don't Love Nobody is sickening and inspiring. "It has really spurred incredible interest," says Bess who has become a national figure, traveling all over the country advocating the educational rights of impoverished children. She has appeared on the Phil Donohue Show and has been featured in Peoplemagazine. Now in her ninth year at the shelter, Bess divides her time between teaching and her speaking engagements.
In 1995, she was one of four recipients of the National Jefferson Award, presented annually by the American Institute for Public Service (New Castle, Del.). The other three recipients were former first lady Barbara Bush, retired Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun, and philanthropist Walter Annenberg. Bess is negotiating with the executive producer of Schindler's List for the possible sale of the movie rights to her book.
All this publicity has opened many doors to Bess, and when she travels around the country she tells people "Don't send your money to me. You have children in your own neighborhoods who need to be a part of a community." Her book includes the names of organizations that people can contact to find out how they can help persons in need in their own communities.
Bess says, "I believe we're a very caring society still, but we don't know how to serve. My purpose is to teach people to serve. Not to teach them that what I do is so great. If we spend our time judging we may lose the opportunity to serve."
(Note: The homeless shelter moved into larger quarters after Bess' first two years of teaching. Now the school is in a bigger room and is better supplied. One full-time and two part-time teachers teach about 40 students. But there are still many needs: adult volunteers in the morning to work one-on-one with children; shoe store gift certificates; sweat clothes in all sizes so the children will have warm clothing; and individual containers of juice. Nasi Goreng Cendawan

Entah angin apa kemaruk sangat nak makan nasi goreng untuk berbuka puasa sunat semalam
ni kesan penangan nasi goreng jeti nelayan sungai kembong lah ni
belum nak reda lagi
kena pulak saya geram pasal geng gosip dan geng makan saya pergi makan kat jeti tu hari rabu tanpa mengajak saya
berbau-bau dan terbayang-bayang keenakan nasi goreng pak salleh tu
isyyy sampai hati dia... bukan dia tak tau nasi goreng jeti adalah kegemaran saya!

Nasi goreng cendawan campak-campak

on the way balik boleh singgah collect
tapi entah kenapa datang rasa malu lah pulak
segan you... tiap minggu membedal nasi goreng dia
sampai anak dia pun boleh cam dah saya walaupun saya order di telefon je tempohari
Jadi saya keraskan hati, batalkan niat
on the way balik singgah petronas, beli sandwich telur dan sandwich sardin
bajet nak pujuk hati, tenangkan nafsu
tapi.... FAIL!

mundar mandir kat dapur sambil tunggu butter cake masak
sudahnya kukerjakan jugak memasak nasi goreng

When It Rains

Heavy rain came down pouring for two mornings in a row
luckily it came when I've already settled down in the office
else I would be caught in the traffic jam

I love when it rains
rain have sentimental effects on me
brings back memories of the rainy days during my childhood years
days when me and my siblings took off our shirts leaving only panties or shorts on
and then we would dive ke dalam kepungan air hujan yang berkumpul di atas lantai depan rumah
because we were living on the 4th floor of a government flat house
we lack the opportunity to run wild in the rain
but that didn't stop us from enjoying the rain
we make do with running and diving di kaki lima selebar 5 kaki depan rumah
sebab kami tinggal di tingkat paling atas jadi air hujan masuk mencurah-curah
pintu rumah harus ditutup rapat if not banjir pulak dalam rumah! ;-)
some experience yang anak-anak saya belum rasai... mungkinkah akan?

there is a song "Rain, rain go away... come again another day, little johnny wants to play"
but for me I would never want the rain to go away
sebab saya suka duduk tepi tingkap bila hujan
dengar bunyi rain drops - leka and really soothing
tapi bila kat ofis ni tak dapatlah nak menikmatinya
